As 2008 ended, a lot of people around me, and I’m sure you also, decided to make New Year resolutions. You will hear recurring themes when these resolutions are talked about: weight loss, quit smoking, etc… But this year I decided to break away from the pack and do something different.  My New Year resolution is to save money wherever I can. I’m about to tell you something that has been a secret to a few select shoppers for a long time. The secret is something that has been saving these shoppers money for a long long time and will continue to do so for many many years.

I think the best way to explain it to you is how I was able to save myself money…

Now that I think about it, it was about a month ago that I first learned about this secret of sorts. I had just finished my Christmas shopping and pulled up to my house. I bent down and started shoveling the clothes in the bag while I scolded my children. The last thing I picked up was the receipt. For some reason I flipped the receipt over and noticed something odd. On the back of the receipt was a little web address that was followed by an explanation of its purpose. It turns out that the web address is for customers to take a survey. In exchange for taking the survey, the company gives a 15% off coupon for future purchases.
